FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: crystalliser contains four working walls assembled in pairs. The first pair of walls is designed to perform rotary movements and has an upper extended and a lower vertical portion. The second pair is designed to perform reciprocal motions. During casting of metal walls of the second pair are cooled by means of thermal pipes. Heated zones of the thermal pipes are located in the central part of walls of the second pair and represent vertical channels, additional inclined channels adjoining the vertical ones, and a horizontal channel with a cooling medium. The cooling zone represents a tight proof chamber made as coaxially assembled pipes of bigger and smaller diameters. The pipe of a smaller diameter has longitudinal ribs on the inside surface. The pipe of a bigger diameter by means of sleeves is connected to vertical and additional inclined channels for cooling medium.

EFFECT: increased reliability of a crystalliser operation and decrease of cooling medium consumption.
