NEEDLE-TYPE ELECTROPORATION ELECTRODE Russian patent published in 2020 - IPC A61N1/04

Abstract RU 2739514 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medical equipment, and more specifically to surgery for ablation or electrochemotherapy of biological tissues in treating human and animal diseases using an electroporation technique. Electrode is made with insulating coating of side surface and non-insulated working part, wherein electrode end is made in form of semi-cylinder with flat face along electrode axis, and working part is located on this side, side surfaces above working part and on electrode end are made with skew. Such electrode configuration allows to significantly reduce muscular contractions during electroporation procedure due to formation of electric field with strictly marked boundaries defined by plane of working part of electrode.

EFFECT: electric field formed by the disclosed electrode is present only from the inner region of the working portion of the electrode, which makes it possible to form an electric field by placing the electrode so as not to affect the vital organs of the human and animal, mainly on the cardiac muscle.
