SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the computer equipment. Method for decoding data signal with support of sign data concealment, representing at least one partitioned image that was previously encoded, in which the current partition data is decoded to obtain a set of coefficients; identifying a first and a last nonzero coefficient in a set of coefficients; determining the number of coefficients from the first nonzero coefficient to the last nonzero coefficient; and in response to determination that said number is greater than 4: calculating sum of information of amplitudes of non-zero coefficients in a set of coefficients; calculating, using the sum of information of amplitudes of non-zero coefficients, parity check data; indicating, based on said parity check data, a sign for a particular nonzero coefficient; and dequanting a set of coefficients, including a specific non-zero coefficient, for which a sign is indicated.

EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of efficiency of data compression.
