SUBSTANCE: technical result is achieved by a set of coefficients encoded using contextual adaptive binary arithmetic coding (CABAC), which must be decoded by a decoder to generate a set of coefficients, representing a residual block for a unit having the ability to hide sign data, wherein set of coefficients includes certain specific non-zero coefficient, which has no indication of sign, wherein based on an operation representing division between the sum of non-zero coefficients in said set of coefficients and a certain specific number, residual data are used to indicate a sign for said specific nonzero coefficient.

EFFECT: technical result is higher accuracy of encoding and decoding images.
