SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR INCREASING EXTERNAL DIAMETER OF VEINS Russian patent published in 2021 - IPC A61N1/362

Abstract RU 2741571 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to medical equipment, namely to a system for permanent increase of external diameter and diameter of peripheral vein lumen for creation of arteriovenous fistula or arteriovenous graft and method of creating arteriovenous fistula or arteriovenous transplant in patient. System for creating an arteriovenous fistula or an arteriovenous graft uses a peripheral vein portion with a continuously enlarged outer diameter. System comprises a pump which increases blood flow in a peripheral vein and pumps blood. System comprises a first tube connected to the pump and communicating with the peripheral vein and allowing the blood to be transferred from the donor vessel to the pump. System has a second tube connected to the pump and communicated with the peripheral vein and providing the ability to transfer blood from the pump to the peripheral vein. System comprises a control unit connected to the pump and configured to force the pump to pump blood such that the peripheral vein wall shear stress is greater than or equal to 0.76 Pa until there is a continuous increase in peripheral vein peripheral diameter after pumping is stopped. Method includes connection with fluid communication of one end of pump-tube unit with donor vessel. Method involves a connection with a fluid communication of the other end of the pump-tube assembly to the peripheral vein. Method comprises pumping blood from donor vessel into peripheral vein, wherein pumping increases blood velocity in peripheral vein, and wherein blood pumping results in a peripheral vein wall shear stress that is greater than or equal to 0.76 Pa and for a period of time sufficient to achieve a continuous increase in peripheral vein peripheral diameter. Method involves a stage of creating an arteriovenous fistula or an arteriovenous graft in a patient using a peripheral vein portion with a continuously enlarged outer diameter.

EFFECT: technical result is a constant increase in the diameter of the lumen and peripheral venous diameter so that these veins can be used to create sections of haemodialysis access and transplants of shunts.
