SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to histology. To estimate length of columnar histological structures with hexagonal placing on obliquely oriented histological sections, three sides of histological structure are measured, and evaluation of length of side of histological structure is calculated by original calculation formula.

EFFECT: method enables obtaining accurate measurements of the length of the side of a histological structure with hexagonal placement on sections produced using a freezing microtome or microtome for making paraffin sections without accurate orientation of the blocks of the examined organ for cutting.
