SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means for representing three-dimensional audio data. Audio reproduction data is received, containing one or more audio objects and metadata associated with each of one or more audio objects. Data from the reproducing medium is received, containing a pointer to the number of reproducing speakers in the reproducing medium and a pointer to the location of each reproducing speaker within the reproducing medium. Sound objects are represented into signals sent to speakers by applying an amplitude panning method to each sound object. In this case, the amplitude panning method is based on metadata associated with each sound object and with the location of each reproducing speaker within the reproducing medium, and where each signal supplied to the speaker corresponds to one of reproducing speakers within the reproducing medium. Metadata associated with each sound object contains coordinates of the sound object and metadata of zone restrictions.

EFFECT: increase in the efficiency of the representation of three-dimensional audio data.
