FIELD: biotechnology.

SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a microorganism from the genus Yarrowia, intended for the production of fat and in which phosphatidylethanolamine-N-methyltransferase (PEMT) or phospholipidmethyltransferase activity is inactivated, wherein said microorganism is derived from Yarrowia lipolytica, wherein said microorganism is a choline auxotrophic microorganism, and wherein said microorganism has an increased fat content compared to the wild type. Also disclosed is a composition for producing fat, containing an excipient and one or more of said microorganisms, a culture of said microorganism and a dry product of said microorganism. Also disclosed is a method for increasing fat content in a microorganism, method of producing fat using said microorganism and use in production of fat of said microorganism, culture of said microorganism, dry product of said microorganism and fat, recovered from one or more of said microorganisms, culture and dry product.

EFFECT: invention provides increased production of fat in Yarrowia strain.
