SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to working of metal and can be used for milling rectangular ledges with improved chip disposal. The double-sided cutting plate comprises opposite and identical top and bottom surfaces connected with a continuous peripheral side surface with a median plane located between the top and bottom surfaces and crossing the side surface. The axis of the plate is located perpendicularly to the median plane wherein the cutting plate is indexable around the plane. Each of the top and bottom surfaces is defined by a peripheral cutting edge crossing the side surface. The peripheral cutting edge in the top view has a shape of a truncated equilateral triangle. Each peripheral cutting edge comprises three similar sets of cutting edges, exhibiting third-order rotational symmetry relative to the insert axis. The first section of the cutting edge crosses the first supporting plane. The constructive implementation of the surfaces of the cutting plate and their mutual arrangement are disclosed.
EFFECT: invention allows using the cutting plate six times.
