FIELD: metallurgy/chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a melting furnace for refining a magnesium alloy. The furnace contains a crucible, an immersion tube with holes for supplying gases and a device for automatically regulating the supply of an inert gas or a gas mixture, while the immersion tube is made of low-alloy carbon steel and consists of a tubular working part, a tubular rod and a hose for connecting to a gas cylinder, when the tubular working part is made with a passage diameter of 15-25 mm and has a perforated end on the side not facing the crucible bottom, bent so that it can be placed in the working position parallel to the bottom of the melting furnace crucible, and the holes in the perforated end are made with a diameter of no more than 3 mm at a distance of 5-10 mm from each other, the tubular rod is made of a pipe with a diameter the same or close to the diameter of the working part and is connected to the working part by means of a valve to shut off the gas supply to the working part and to a hose for connecting to the gas cylinder by means of a device for automatic regulation of gas supply, made in the form of a union and a regulator with a rotameter for reducing and regulating the pressure of the gas entering the regulator from the cylinder, and automatically maintaining the gas flow at a constant level.
EFFECT: increasing the degree of purification of magnesium melt from non-metallic inclusions and oxide films and simplifying the design of the furnace.
