SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of the automotive industry and construction, where laminated glass with electrically controlled functional elements is used to protect from the sun or to ensure privacy and relates to a functional element with electrically controlled optical properties, laminated glass with a functional element, in particular a windshield or glass in the roof of a vehicle with electrically controlled sun visor. The functional element with electrically controlled optical properties contains a multilayer system of at least a first carrier film, an active layer and a second carrier film, and at least one face of the active layer outlet on at least one side surface of the multilayer system of the functional element is at least in places sealed with a barrier material.

EFFECT: invention provides for the development of an improved functional element with electrically controlled optical properties, which is improved in terms of its aging resistance.
