FIELD: power industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a cable sheath containing a random heterophasic propylene copolymer. In addition, the invention relates to a power cable containing this sheath. The random heterophasic polypropylene copolymer contains a matrix (M) which is a random propylene copolymer (R-PP) and an elastomeric propylene copolymer (E) dispersed therein; wherein the random propylene copolymer (R-PP) contains the first fraction of the propylene copolymer (R-PP1) having a comonomer content in the range from 0.8 to 6.0 mol%, and the second fraction of the propylene copolymer (R-PP2) having comonomer content in the range from 7.2 to 20.0 mol% based on the total number of fractions (R-PP1) and (R-PP2); and the random heterophasic propylene copolymer has an MFR2 (230 °C) measured in accordance with ISO 1133 in the range of 0.5 to 15 g/10 min and Charpy impact strength measured in accordance with ISO 179-1/1eA at -20 °C in the range from 5 to 20 kJ/m2.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to create a cable sheath having a combination of high impact strength at temperatures below zero degrees Celsius and good mechanical properties at elevated temperatures.
