FIELD: nuclear energy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nuclear energy, in particular to the technology of conditioning and processing of radioactive waste, it can be used for the disposal of spent ion-exchange resins (hereinafter – SIER) and their transfer to a safe form. The method of decontamination of cation exchange resins containing cobalt-57 and iron oxides is carried out by electrochemical treatment in solutions of mineral acids. The cell for the placement of spent ion-exchange resins is fixed in the cathode space and mineral acids are used in the absence of reducing agents and complexing agents.
EFFECT: invention allows for deep decontamination of cation-exchange SIER.
