FIELD: powder metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to powder metallurgy, in particular, to the production of activated metal iridium powder. It can be used as a component of heat-resistant ceramic products, high-temperature alloys, catalysts, reagent in fine chemical synthesis. The initial iridium powder is subjected to mechanochemical activation in a spherical planetary grinder with reels and grinding balls made of tungsten carbide in one stage in the presence of an inert filler and a dispersion liquid in an air medium at an acceleration of grinding bodies of 20-40 g for 4-6 hours. 
EFFECT: increase in the reactivity of the powder is provided.
