FIELD: optical industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of protection of optoelectronic devices (OED) from powerful optical radiation. The method is based on passing laser pulses through a protective element with a radiation resistance value less than the value of the minimum radiation resistance of the OED elements and protecting the OED by destroying the OED protective element when exposed to a sequence of laser pulses. At the same time, the initial time tipe of the effect of a sequence of laser pulses on the protective element and the initial time tdpe of the destruction of the protective element are determined, the time interval Δt between tipe and tdpe is calculated as Δt= tipe-tdpe, the initial time moment tiie is determined after the destruction of the protective element the subsequent action of a sequence of laser pulses on an element from the OED composition with a minimum value of radiation resistance and limit the duration of the sequence of laser pulses from the instant tiie to the instant tiie+Δt.
EFFECT: invention increases the efficiency of protecting the OED from damage by laser radiation.
