SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ophthalmology, it can be used for lacrimal dysfunction diagnostics using meniscometry. The cross-sectional area of the lacrimal meniscus is measured using an optical coherence tomograph. At the same time, the study is carried out under the following conditions: the air temperature in the room where the study is conducted is 20-24°C, the relative humidity of the air is 40-60%, and the patient does not restrain blinking. Before the study, solution installations in the conjunctival sac, lacrimal ducts washing and contact diagnostics methods are not performed. The scanning beam takes a measurement in the middle of the lacrimal stream at the 6-hour meridian. After that, in the resulting image, the points are marked along the contour of the lacrimal meniscus to obtain a closed curve line. Next, a program is used to convert the “pixel” value into a metric value by calibrating the measurements. Then the figure area is calculated according to Green’s formula. If the values of the cut area of the lacrimal meniscus are not in the range of 0.02-0.08 mm2, lacrimal dysfunction is diagnosed.

EFFECT: method provides for lacrimal dysfunction diagnostics due to determining (calculation) the lacrimal meniscus area.
