FIELD: fault diagnosis.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the diagnosis of defects in rotary machines, in particular their kinematic pairs, the defects of which lead to a change in the width and shape of the spectral components, and can be used to assess the technical condition of their gears. The method involves receiving a signal and processing it, and the vibration signal from the vibration converter is processed to obtain a narrow-band spectrum with a step less than the width of the spectral component under study until a smoothed shape of its envelope is obtained, then the width is determined at two specified levels from its maximum and their difference is calculated, the resulting value is compared with a pre-established norm and the state of the object is determined based on the results of comparison.
EFFECT: simplifying and increasing the sensitivity of measuring the energy width of the spectral component of vibration of machines.
