FIELD: mineral wool insulation product production.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the production of a molded mineral wool insulation product. The product can be a pipe section, an insulating piece, a formed block of growing substrate, a plug, or a slab. The method includes the steps of obtaining a mixture of mineral fibers with a binder composition and placing said mixture in a mold cavity, followed by curing the binder and removing the molded product from the mold cavity. The binder composition contains at least one hydrocolloid in the form of gelatin and additionally at least one fatty acid ester of glycerol in the form of vegetable or animal oil. To obtain a tubular product, the method includes forming a mixture of mineral fibers with gelatin in the form of a web and applying said web around the core, followed by curing the binder composition and removing it from the core.
EFFECT: elimination of elevated processing temperature of products for curing the binder and self-healing of the strength of the mineral wool product after exposure to harsh environmental conditions.
