FIELD: chemical industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the chemical industry and can be used to produce a mineral wool product. The formaldehyde-free mineral fiber binder composition has a pH greater than 7 and contains at least one tannin, at least one protein, and at least one fatty acid ester of glycerol. The content of tannin is 1-70 wt.% in terms of dry weight of protein, and the content of fatty acid ester and glycerol is 0.5-40 wt.% in terms of dry weight of protein. Said binder composition may additionally contain at least one phenol and/or quinone containing compound. The tannin is selected from tannic acid, condensed tannins, hydrolysable tannins, gallotannins, ellagitannins, complex tannins and/or tannin obtained from oak, chestnut, staghorn sumac and tellima grandiflora. The protein may be of animal origin and selected from collagen, gelatin, hydrolysed gelatin and protein from milk, eggs; or plant origin, including proteins from legumes, cereals, whole grains, nuts, seeds, and fruits; or protein-polyphenolic complexes such as bivalve leg protein. The ester of fatty acids and glycerol is in the form of vegetable and/or animal oil with an iodine value greater than or equal to 75 and is selected from linseed, olive, tung, coconut, hemp, rapeseed or sunflower oil or fish oil. The binder composition may additionally contain an additive selected from tyrosinase, an iron ion, an amine or its salts, KOH or NaOH, ammonia or its salts, as well as cross-linking agents containing amino and/or thiol groups. The mineral wool product contains mineral fibers bonded with a binder obtained by curing said binder composition, has a density of 10-1200 kg/m3 and is characterized by a loss on ignition of 0.1-25.0 wt.%. To obtain this product, raw materials are first melted, mineral fibers are formed, they are collected in the form of a web, mixed with the specified binder composition, and the resulting mixture is cured at a temperature of 5-95°C by blowing with air or gas.
EFFECT: mineral wool product is obtained from renewable sources without the use of corrosive and/or harmful materials, has high strength and low water absorption.
