FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of laser cutting of materials. The system has a table having a set of structural elements forming a frame, configured to receive a workpiece for a cutting operation, a laser head mounted movably relative to the table to selectively cut a workpiece, a protective material configured to absorb radiation and energy from the laser head during the cutting operation and applied to at least one of the structural elements. The protective material is applied to all structural elements located above the effective cutting area of the table. In this case, a graphite material, in particular a flexible sheet of graphite material, can be used as a protective material. The invention also discloses a method for equipping a laser cutting machine with a protective material.
EFFECT: use of inventions makes it possible to increase the safety of the system while reducing its dimensions.
