SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of organic chemistry, namely to a method for producing 2-({[7-hydroxy-5-(2-phenylethyl)-[1,2,4]triazolo[1,5-a]pyridine-8-yl]carbonyl}amino)acetic acid (compound (1)) or its pharmaceutically acceptable salt, including the stage of hydrolysis and then decarboxylation of a compound [VI], in which each R61, R62 and R111 is independently C1-6alkyl, and X91 is halogen, to obtain a compound [IV], in which X91 is as defined above, the stage of reaction of the compound [IV] with glycine derivative to obtain a compound [III], in which R31 is C1-6alkyl, and X91 is as defined above, the stage of reaction of the compound [III] with a base to obtain a salt of the compound (1) and the stage of reaction of the specified salt of the compound (1) with acid to obtain the compound (1).

EFFECT: new method is developed for producing the compound of the formula (1) with PHD inhibitory activity suitable for the treatment or prevention of diseases caused by reduced EPO synthesis, characterized by high yield and simplicity.
