FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for electric arc mechanized surfacing of steels under flux. The flux consists of slag produced by silicomanganese, containing components in the following ratio, wt.%: silicon dioxide 17-48, aluminum oxide 2-27, calcium oxide 6-29, calcium fluoride 0.1-3.8, magnesium oxide 0.7-10.8, manganese oxide 2-35, iron oxide 0.1-2.5, carbon 0.02-3.0, sulfur no more than 0.40, phosphorus no more than 0.40. The flux is made in the form of granules having a fraction of up to 0.45 mm in an amount of up to 10%, over 0.45 to 2.5 mm in an amount of up to 90%, and 2.51-3.00 mm – up to 1%.
EFFECT: invention reduces the melting loss of alloying elements during surfacing by changing the fractional composition and increasing the covering properties of the slag formed from the flux, provides reduction of power consumption during surfacing by optimizing the fractional and chemical compositions, as well as increasing the hardness and increasing the wear resistance of the deposited metal layer.
