FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in arc-assisted arc welding and surfacing of steels under the flux. Flux contains slag from the production of silicomanganese, including silica, alumina, calcium oxide, magnesium oxide, manganese oxide, iron oxide, and a flux additive consisting of strontium-barium carbonatite of 70–80 wt% and liquid glass of 20–30 wt%. Components of the flux are taken in the following ratio, wt%: slag from silicomanganese production 90–98, flux additive 2–10.
EFFECT: reduced contamination of steel with non-metallic inclusions and reduced loss of alloying elements at welding and surfacing, increased hardness of built-up layer, and increased level of wear resistance of built-up metal layer.
