FIELD: laser technologies.
SUBSTANCE: invention is aimed to amplify continuous or pulsed-periodic laser radiation to a high (tens of watts) average power. The essence of the invention is that a solid-state laser radiation amplifier includes a solid-state active element made in the form of a rectangular parallelepiped with two end faces that serve to input radiation into the solid-state active element and output radiation from the solid-state active element, and with four side faces, a cooling system for the solid-state active element, at least one pump radiation source, an optical system for introducing pump radiation into the solid-state active element, placed so that pump radiation is conducted through the solid-state active element parallel to its side faces (the diameter of the pump radiation beam is at least three times smaller than the smallest size of the end face), an optical system for introducing amplified laser radiation into the solid-state active element, arranged in such a way that the amplified laser radiation is conducted through the solid-state active element parallel to its side faces, with the size and position of the amplified radiation beam coincides with the size and position of the pump beam, and at least, one dichroic mirror for spatial separation and insertion of pump radiation and amplified laser radiation into the solid-state active element, with the pump beam and the laser beam located as close as possible to at least one of the side faces of the solid-state active element.
EFFECT: provided is possibility of developing a laser radiation amplifier capable of operating at a high average power of tens of watts, having a high output beam quality and a large gain per pass, without using thin active elements (<1 mm), the manufacture and application of which causes technological difficulties.
