FIELD: laser engineering.

SUBSTANCE: solid-state laser amplifier includes a pumping radiation source based on laser diodes, which acts as a waveguide for pumping radiation, a solid-state active element of elongated axially symmetric shape with a cross-section with a variable cross-section with two circular end faces, serving for input of radiation into solid-state active element and output of radiation from solid-state active element, which contacts side surface with layer of material, providing waveguide propagation of pumping radiation. Also, the device comprises a cooling system of the side surface of the solid-state active element, an optical system for placing pumping radiation into a solid-state active element located on the side of a larger-area circular end face of the solid-state active element, an optical system for arranging the amplified laser radiation in the solid-state active element, which provides its free propagation in the solid-state active element and located on the side of the circular surface end face of the solid-state active element, which is smaller in area, as well as at least one dichroic mirror for spatial separation of pumping radiation and amplified laser radiation. Solid-state active element has exponential shape of side surface generatrix, varying in accordance with formula Ssmall=Sbigexp(-αpumpL), where L is the truncated forward axially symmetric active element length, Ssmall is area by area of circular end face of solid-state active element, Sbig is area by area of circular end face of solid-state active element, αpump is solid-state active element material absorption coefficient.

EFFECT: technical result consists in increase of amplification coefficient and increase in efficiency extraction of stored power along the entire length of active element of amplifier for one pass of intensified laser radiation and pumping radiation through active element.
