FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: laser radiation amplifier on the basis of a solid-state active element comprises a pumping radiation source based on the laser diode, extending in the waveguide role for the pumping radiation of the solid-state active element with two circular end faces, which serve for the input and output of radiation, a system cooling the lateral surface of the active element and a dichroic mirror for spatial separating the pumping radiation and the amplified laser radiation. The active element is in contact with the material layer by the lateral surface, providing guided propagation of the pumping radiation. The active element is in the form of a truncated right circular cone, wherein the optical system for inserting the pumping radiation into the active element is located at its circular end face, which is a bigger base of the truncated right circular cone. The optical system for inserting the pumping radiation into the active element, that provides its free distribution, is located at its circular end face, which is a smaller base of the truncated right circular cone.

EFFECT: enabling the amplifier to operate with high average and peak power with the high-quality output beam, providing a big gain and effective retrieval of stored power along the entire length of the active element in the amplifier with one passage of the amplified laser radiation and the pumping radiation through the active element.
