SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of electrical engineering, particular to power supply units. The technical result is achieved by the fact that the power supply unit includes a power source connected with the first resistor, a second resistor connected in series with the first resistor, a connecting part electrically connectable to an external unit, wherein said unit includes a first electrical lead connected with a first assembly between the first resistor and the second resistor, and a second electrical lead connected with a second assembly located on the side opposite from the first assembly relative to the first resistor, a first switch connected with the first assembly and forming an electrical branch in parallel with the second resistor, and a detecting part detecting connection of the external unit to the connecting part by the value of the voltage drop at the second resistor. The first switch includes a body diode so that the current flow direction is a reverse direction when the external unit is not connected to the connecting part.

EFFECT: ensuring reliable and efficient use of the power supply.
