BIODEGRADABLE POLYMER COMPOSITION WITH ANTIMICROBIAL PROPERTIES AND CONTROLLED BIODEGRADATION PERIOD Russian patent published in 2021 - IPC C08L67/03 C08G63/16 C08G63/183

Abstract RU 2753723 C1

FIELD: composite materials.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of polymer composites. Proposed is a biodegradable polymer composition with antimicrobial properties and a controlled biodegradation period, characterised by containing (% wt.): birch bark extract with a content of betulinol (betulin) C36H60O3 no less than 80% wt. (0.5 to 5.0) as a plant extract, polylactic acid (2.5 to 5.0), starch containing 20% wt. glycerin as a plasticising additive (5 to 20), and polybutylene adipate terephthalate as a biopolymer (the rest up to 100%).

EFFECT: creation of a biodegradable polymer composition with antimicrobial properties and a controlled biodegradation period – a capability of biodegrading after a certain time after disposal, usable as packaging polymer materials for food products, simultaneously providing long-term protection from microbiological spoilage.
