SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of biochemistry, in particular to a recombinant DNA molecule encoding protein, which has activity of protoporphyrinogen oxidase insensitive to herbicides. A DNA structure, a vector, a plant, a cell, a plant part and a seed containing the specified molecule, as well as polypeptide encoded by the specified molecule are also disclosed. Methods for providing resistance to herbicides, transforming a plant, combating, obtaining a plant, selecting a resistance gene, weakening the development of weeds are disclosed.
