FIELD: treatment of waste water.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in purification of waste water containing titanium (IV) hydroxide. The method for extracting titanium (IV) hydroxide from an aqueous solution includes introducing an anionic surface-active agent sodium dodecyl sulphate, a coagulant of iron (III) hydroxide, into the purified water prior to electroflotation with insoluble anodes. The mass ratio of the extracted titanium (IV) hydroxide to sodium dodecyl sulphate and coagulant constitutes [1]:[0.02 to 0.08]:[0.02 to 0.08]. A cationic flocculant based on polyacrylamide is additionally introduced into the purified water at a mass ratio of titanium (IV) hydroxide to the flocculant of [1]:[0.05 to 0.1]. Electroflotation is performed at a pH of 2.5 to 3.0, a volumetric current density of 0.4 A/l, for 10 minutes.

EFFECT: provides a possibility to expand the range of initial concentrations of titanium (IV) hydroxide ions in the purified water to 10 to 300 mg/l while maintaining a high degree of extraction of titanium (IV) hydroxide constituting 98 to 99%.
