FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method for purification of perfluoro ethyl isopropyl ketone, a fire extinguishing agent of a new generation, from impurities including fluorinated unsaturated hydrocarbons and fluoro-oxygen-containing compounds by the method for oxidation thereof in the presence of a catalyst. Oxygen is used therein as an oxidiser, and the catalyst is selected from the group consisting of copper (II) oxide, zinc (II) oxide, chromium (III) oxide, manganese (II) oxide, iron (II) oxide, iron (III) oxide, platinum, iridium, palladium or a combination of the above, wherein the fluorinated unsaturated hydrocarbons constitute hexafluoropropene and hexafluoropropene dimers, and the fluorine-oxygen-containing compounds constitute 2-perfluoromethyl-2-perfluoropropoxy ethanoyl fluoride and perfluoropropionyl fluoride.
EFFECT: simplification and increased safety of the technology for producing perfluoroethyl isopropyl ketone.
