SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for the production of methionine. The method provides for the cultivation of a microorganism in a medium, production of O-succinylhomoserine from the microorganism or medium, conversion of O-succinylhomoserine into methionine using cystathionine-gamma-synthase or O-succinylhomoserine-sulfhydralase. The microorganism is Escherichia sp. microorganism producing O-succinylhomoserine that expresses polypeptide having an amino acid sequence SEQ ID NO: 29 and having the resistance to the inhibition with methionine according to a feedback principle and homoserine-succinyltransferase activity.

EFFECT: invention provides for the production of O-succinylhomoserine with high yield that is a methionine precursor and, thus, can be effective for the production of methionine.
