SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing methionine. Disclosed is a method of producing methionine, involving culturing a microorganism of Escherichia genus in a medium, obtaining O-succinyl homoserine from a microorganism or medium, converting O-succinyl homoserine to methionine. In said microorganism activity of glucose-6-phosphate-1-dehydrogenase is reduced or eliminated compared to its endogenous activity, activity of one or more cystathion-gamma synthase and homoserine kinase is eliminated compared to endogenous activities in the wild-type microorganism, activity of homoserine-O-succinyltransferase is increased compared to endogenous activity in the wild-type microorganism.

EFFECT: invention provides an increase in the yield of O-succinyl homoserine compared to the yield of O-succinyl homoserine in a wild-type microorganism.
