SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing methionine. The method includes cultivating a microorganism in a medium, obtaining O-succinylhomoserine from the microorganism or medium, converting O-succinylhomoserine into methionine by using cystathionine gamma synthase or O-succinylhomoserine sulfhydrylase. The microorganism is Escherichia sp. microorganism, producing O-succinylhomoserine, which expresses polypeptide having an amino acid sequence SEQ ID NO: 1 and having resistance to inhibition by methionine on a feedback principle and homoserine-succinyl-transferase activity.

EFFECT: invention provides the production of O-succinylhomoserine with high yield, which is a methionine precursor, and, thus, can be effective for the production of methionine.
