FIELD: shipbuilding.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of shipbuilding, in particular to submarines, floating in ice conditions and destroying the ice cover by the resonance method when they emerge in solid ice. A method for destruction of the ice cover by an underwater vessel is proposed, which consists in the excitation of flexural-gravity waves in the ice when the vessel moves under the ice at a resonant speed. During movement, the vessel is given a bluff shape by the formation of hydrodynamic vortices in its bow. The vessel is given a streamlined shape periodically with a frequency equal to the frequency of resonant flexural-gravitational waves for a time equal to half the period of these waves.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of destruction of ice cover.
