FIELD: shipbuilding.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of shipbuilding, in particular to submarines, floating in ice conditions and destroying the ice cover by the resonance method when they emerge in solid ice. The proposed method for the destruction of the ice cover by an underwater vessel consists in the excitation of flexural-gravitational waves in the ice when the vessel moves under the ice at a resonant speed. During the movement, the ship is given a bluff shape by the formation of hydrodynamic vortices at its aft end, and the centers of the vortices are located above the regions of separation of the boundary layer of the liquid flowing around the ship's hull. The vessel is given a streamlined shape periodically with a frequency equal to the frequency of resonant flexural-gravitational waves for a time equal to half the period of these waves.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of destruction of ice cover.
