SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of analytical chemistry and can be used to determine the concentration of hafnium in metallic zirconium and alloys based on it. The method for determining the hafnium content in metallic zirconium and alloys based on it includes constructing a calibration graph of the dependence of the fluorescence intensity of the hafnium HfLβ1 line on its concentration in samples with established hafnium contents, pressing the analyzed sample into a templet whose dimensions correspond to the spectrometer sample receiver, collimating the radiation with a thin collimator with an angular divergence of 14-17°, allocating the spectral interval of the hafnium HfLβ1line with a LiF220 crystal analyzer, while the setting of the thresholds of the amplitude discriminator is carried out in a narrow interval, sufficient to cut off high-voltage pulses generated by higher-energy zirconium quanta.
EFFECT: separation of overlapping lines of zirconium ZrKβ2_II in the second order of reflection and hafnium HfLβ1.
