FIELD: filtering devices.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a filter element for removing water from hydrocarbon liquid, including diesel fuel, as well as to a method for processing a filter medium that includes substrate characterized by a rolling angle in the range from 50 to 90 degrees and a contact angle in the range from 90 to 180 degrees for a drop of water with volume of 50 mcl, if the surface is immersed in toluene. The surface is subjected to UV treatment, and substrate additionally contains one or more of an aromatic component, an unsaturated component or UV-reactive resin. In some embodiments, substrate contains polymer containing a hydrophilic group, or coating based on polymer containing a hydrophilic group.
EFFECT: technical result is increased efficiency of fuel and water separation.
