FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to biotechnology, in particular, to a method for producing methyl methacrylate. The method according to the invention includes the stages of: a) obtaining microorganisms in a fermentation medium in the conditions wherein said microorganisms produce a C3-C12-ester of methacrylic acid; b) producing an organic phase in contact with the fermentation medium, wherein said organic phase comprises the C3-C12-ester of methacrylic acid in a higher concentration than the concentration in the fermentation medium; c) removing the organic phase containing said C3-C12-ester of methacrylic acid from contact with the fermentation medium; and d) performing interesterification of the isolated C3-C12-ester of methacrylic acid with methanol, optionally after separation from the organic phase, resulting in production of methyl methacrylate.
EFFECT: invention provides a possibility of producing methyl methacrylate with a high degree of efficiency.
