FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: method for producing 2,4-dihydroxybutyrate (2,4-DHB) from homoresine is proposed. It includes two stages: 1) replacement of primary homoresine amino group with carbonyl group for producing 2-oxo-4-hydroxybutyrate (OHB), and 2) reduction of the resulting OHB to 2,4-DHB. A modified micro-organism to produce 2,4-DHB from homoserine in two stages, representing the transformed host organism, including the first chimeric gene, encoding the polypeptide with homoserine-transaminase activity for the replacement of the primary homoserine amino group with carbonyl group to produce OHB, and the second chimeric gene, encoding the polypeptide with OHB-reductase activity for the reduction of OHB to produce 2,4-DHB. A method for producing 2,4-DHB by cultivating said microorganism is proposed.
EFFECT: group of inventions makes it possible to produce 2,4-DHB from homoserine by a simplified ferment method in two stages.
