FIELD: materials processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a technology for processing natural raw materials to obtain a reagent for water purification and its use in water purification processes of industrial and household origin. A method for obtaining a reagent for water purification includes treatment of aluminum hydroxide or oxide with an acidic titanium-containing reagent. Titanium sulfate or chloride is used as titanium compounds. The ratio between titanium and aluminum is taken in the amount of 1:(2.0-7.0). Sulfuric acid of 30-96% concentration is added as a catalyst. The process is carried out by heating to 80-90°C for 20-40 minutes.
EFFECT: reduced content of insoluble part and reduced energy consumption.
