SUBSTANCE: disclosed are a method and an apparatus for determining temperature of a sensing element of an aerosol generating device, wherein the sensing element is configured to be inductively heated by a resonant RLC circuit. Device comprises a controller and is configured to use, when using the frequency response characteristic of the amplitude-frequency characteristic peak of the resonant RLC circuit and to determine the temperature of the sensing element based on the determined frequency response.
EFFECT: invention enables to determine the temperature of the sensing element, for example, for controlling heating material for generating an aerosol, for example to prevent heating above a certain temperature, for example, that it is not burnt or carbonised or that it is heated to a certain temperature or, for example, in accordance with a certain temperature profile.
