FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: spark gap without rotational symmetry comprises an arc quenching chamber and a composite body made of an insulating material, serving as a carrying and receiving body (1) for horn electrodes and an arc quenching chamber, and means for directing the gas flow caused by an electric arc. The body (1) made of an insulating material is divided in the plane defined by the horn electrodes and comprises two half-shells and plug or screw connectors (4, 5) output to the end side. The body made of an insulating material is enveloped by a cooling surface (14) located close to the body, adjoining the surface of the body, on all sides excluding the free areas of the plug or screw connectors (4, 5) output to the outside, wherein the cooling surface (14) is at least partially supported by jumpers (8) made on the outer surface of the half-shells for directing the gas flow.
EFFECT: increase in the reliability of operation and reduction in the dimensions of the spark gap.
