SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means for controlling an autonomous vehicle. A method for moving an autonomous vehicle along a transport network of vehicles includes actuating a sensing unit and an autonomous vehicle operational control controller, which includes generating external object information based on image data and salience information received from the autonomous vehicle operational controller, as well as identifying an individual vehicle operational scenario based on information about an external object, creating an instance of the operational control assessment module for a specific scenario, receiving a possible vehicle control action from a policy for an instance of an operational control assessment module for a specific scenario, and controlling the autonomous vehicle in accordance with a possible action to drive a vehicle.
EFFECT: invention provides operational control of an autonomous vehicle with control of the perception of visual salience.
