FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy and can be used in smelting of steel from iron-ore metallised raw materials (IMRM) in an arc furnace. The method includes continuous supply of IMRM into the bath of the furnace in two streams: through hollow electrodes and through a cone with a pipe and a burner, wherein one IMRM stream includes metallised pellets (MPs) and the other one includes metallised briquettes and bulk materials. The gas burner in the pipe with a cone creates a fuel torch by burning natural gas with oxygen at the outlet of the pipe.
EFFECT: invention provides a possibility of improving the efficiency of operation of the arc furnace due to the increase in the productivity of the unit and reduction in the power consumption during smelting of steel from IMRM.
