FIELD: fuel systems.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a fuel additive composition and its application. The fuel additive composition for the prevention of sediment formation and elimination of already formed sediments present in a fuel injection system and an engine or in an internal combustion engine contains an oxide derivative of (a) isoborneol or (b) borneol; while the oxide derivative of (a) isoborneol or (b) borneol is a product of the reaction of an oxirane compound and isoborneol or borneol; while the oxirane compound is selected from a group consisting of (i) ethylene oxide, (ii) propylene oxide and (iii) butylene oxide. A fuel composition is also disclosed, containing fuel and the specified fuel additive composition, as well as methods for the prevention of the sediment formation and elimination of already formed sediments, and use of the fuel additive composition for the prevention of sediment formation and for the elimination of already formed sediments present in the fuel injection system and the engine or in the internal combustion engine.
EFFECT: prevention of sediment formation and elimination of already formed sediments present in the fuel injection system and in the internal combustion engine.
