SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the technology of electrochemical production, namely, to development of a method for producing electrode materials from manganese oxide with a birnessite or vernadite structure for use in supercapacitors, electrochromic apparatuses, batteries, accumulators, fuel elements. The method for producing electrode materials from oxide with birnessite or vernadite structures by means of cathodic reduction of permanganate or manganate in an alkaline medium consists in conducting cathodic polarisation of a conductive substrate in solutions of alkali metal hydroxides with permanganate additives. Deposition is realised in potentiostatic conditions in a three-electrode electrochemical cell.

EFFECT: high mechanical and adhesive stability in operation in apparatuses with an alkaline electrolyte, stability and quickness of cycling, ease of production and high capacity.
