FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing pig iron in a blast furnace using, as a reducing agent and energy source, granules in the non-crushed form in the amount of more than 10 kg/t of iron containing one or more thermoplastic materials in the amount of more than 40 wt.% relative to the total dry mass of the granules and one or more cellulose materials in the amount of more than 20 wt.% relative the total dry mass of the granules. The method includes the stages of loading iron ore and coke into the blast furnace, blowing the reducing agent into the blast furnace at the level of one or more tuyeres in the combustion area of the blast furnace, supplying hot air to the combustion area of the blast furnace, and producing pig iron in the hearth bottom of the blast furnace.

EFFECT: invention provides a possibility of partially replacing coke with granules having a lower heat of combustion than completely plastic granules, wherefrom a high amount of reducing gas is produced; the granules have a high crushing strength in a cold state, leading to insignificant formation of small fractions in storage and good decay resistance during transportation; also provided is a possibility of supplying the granules into the blast furnace without grinding, therefore, application of an additional pulverisation apparatus is not necessary.
