FIELD: testing.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a method and apparatus for determining the parameters of a rock formation. The method includes obtaining groups of test data collected at various times of data collection during rock drilling. The test data in the test data groups therein contains the working values of the axial force of the drill rod when drilling a unit volume of rock, the working values of the torque of the drill rod when drilling a unit volume of rock, and the working values of friction between the drill bit and the bottom of the borehole when drilling a unit volume of rock. The values Rc of the strength of rock for uniaxial compression are estimated based on the working values of the axial force of the drill rod when drilling a unit volume of rock, the working values of the torque of the drill rod when drilling a unit volume of rock, and the working values of friction between the drill bit and the bottom of the borehole when drilling a unit volume of rock in the set of obtained test datasets collected at different times of data collection during drilling of the rock formation to obtain a set of values of strength of rock for uniaxial compression; determining sequences consisting of the values of the strength of rock for uniaxial compression in rock formations of various categories using software for cluster analysis by the K-means method, and finding the average value of the values of the strength of rock for uniaxial compression in the sequences to obtain the average value of the strength for uniaxial compression of the observed rock formations, as well as determining the thicknesses of all rock layers.
EFFECT: method is used for continuously determining the lithology in engineering support of driving of mines and horizontal workings, thud conserving labour and time.
