SUBSTANCE: invention relates to porous polymer materials and a method for their production, in particular to ultralight materials based on ion polysaccharides having a density of less than 0.05 g/cm3, which, due to their biocompatibility and non-toxicity, can be most effectively used for biomedical purposes, for example, as coatings for wounds and burns, high-capacity absorbents. A method for producing porous polymer material of ultra-low density is proposed, using cryo-structuring techniques, from an aqueous solution of a polysaccharide precursor, wherein the method allows for the use of both cationic and anionic polysaccharides. The resulting porous polymer material can be prepared in any geometric shape: in the form of blocks, plates, disks, irregularly shaped particles (obtained by grinding the block).

EFFECT: creation of new, based on biocompatible ion polysaccharides, ultralight macro-porous materials with the capability of absorbing at least 95% of water or physiological fluids per the total volume of material.
